Pre-Band Schedule

All students must be up to date on payments. Students who still owe money from last year, registration, or the first trip payment will not be allowed to rehearse during pre-band until all financial obligations are up to date (the 2nd trip payment is due at the end of the first week of pre-band). If fees are not paid by the time school begins, schedules will be changed and names placed on hold in the office.

For the first rehearsal (Monday, July 22nd) all students will begin at the band room. Students will need to check in before entering the band room. Check In will be at the south end of the music building - enter from music building parking lot through the glass doors. Students will be able to make payments at check in. 

Below is an updated version of the schedule that was passed out at registration. The most current Pre-Band Schedule will be posted here. Some times may still be subject to change.

Pre-Band Quick Checklist:

  • Practiced Music - Ready for Playing Tests. Songs to be played by memory are Full Band Warm Ups, Jenks Fight Song, Star Spangled Banner, Jenks Alma Mater, and Chinese National Anthem.
  • A 1", 3-Ring Binder with 20 Page Protectors
  • Pencil
  • Hat, Sunglasses, Sunscreen
  • Proper Clothing (no jeans)
  • Tennis Shoes with tight laces (no sandals)
  • Cold Water in Jugs or Cooler
  • Registration Fees All Paid Up

Even if you are familiar with what has been done in the past, make sure and read through the schedule so you won’t miss any changes or details. Details for guard members are posted on the guard facebook page so make sure and refer to those pages for updated information.

Monday, July 22nd – Friday, August 26th

Brass, Woodwinds, Battery, Front Ensemble, and Guard Rehearsals

Each day, a good portion of rehearsal will be out in the sun. Students should spend some time outside this summer so they will be used to and ready to handle the heat.

For the first rehearsal (Monday, July 22nd) all students will begin at the band rooom. We will meet together before splitting into separate rehearsals. All students will need to check in before entering the band room. Check In will be at the South end of the music building. Enter from the Music Building Parking Lot through the glass doors. 

For this week - Outside rehearsals in the mornings will be at the track football field. Outside rehearsals in the evenings will be at the stadium. For safety reasons - students are not allowed to drive from football fields to music building during pre-band. Regardless of outside rehearsal location - students are to park at the music building and walk to different rehearsal areas.

For all rehearsals during pre-band, there are no jeans allowed – students must wear shorts. Proper footwear is tennis shoes – no sandals, flip flops, etc. Shoes should be tightly laced, not loose and only for decoration. Finally, every student should bring their own water for all outside rehearsals. You will need a large jug of water. A twelve-ounce bottle will not suffice. There is to be no sharing of water. Students must take water jugs home each night to clean and refill them. 

8:00 am – 12:00 pm

  • Brass, Battery, and Woodwinds – two hours will be spent outside doing marching fundamentals and body work and then two hours spent inside for sectionals. Some sectionals may be held outdoors as it is necessary to hear music in proper context.
  • Front Ensemble – will be inside most of the time.
  • Guard – see guard facebook page for all details.

5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

  • Brass, Battery, and Woodwinds – two hours will be spent inside working on contest music and stand tunes as a full group and then two hours outside at the field with marching fundamentals and body work.
  • Front Ensemble – will be inside most of the time and begin to transition outside as needed.
  • Guard – may rotate locations between PEG Gym and outside/stadium.

Saturday, July 27th

Monday, July 29th – Friday, August 2nd

For this week – All outside rehearsals will be at the stadium. Surface is artificial turf.

Evening Rehearsals Only. All on Same Rehearsal Schedule from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Tuesday, August 6th. All freshman and new band members will be required to attend the Hair Session, 9:00am -12:00pm in the PEG Gym. (Like last year, we will not be wearing hats for the halftime and contest shows). 

 

Monday, August 12th – Thursday, August 15th

Brass, Woodwinds, Battery, Front Ensemble, and Guard Rehearsals

Evening Rehearsals Only. All on Same Rehearsal Schedule from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

 

Friday, August 16th

8:00 am – 10:00 am Band Group Photo Session

5:00 pm – Full Group Rehearsal (all students must wear Travel Shirt for this rehearsal/performance)

7:00 pm – 8:30 pm Parent Performance and Slushie Social (rehearsal still begins at 5)

11:00 pm – Lock In

 

Monday, August 19th
