Students and Parents - before you know it, marching season will be over and it will be time to begin concert band. Below is the initial information necessary to get a good start. Please read carefully and thoroughly so you can be best prepared for concert band season.

The transition from marching band to concert band will slowly begin the week after BOA Grand Nationals. Students will separated into three concerts bands as well as working on the Kiwanis Christmas Parade tune as soon as Grand Nationals are completed.

--------

Audition music has been passed out to all students. The material is the same music as honor band (both OMEA and NCDA) audition music. For clarification purposes, all music that is not marked out must be prepared for honor band auditions. Music that is marked in brackets is the portion that must be prepared for concert band auditions. Students must also prepare scales for both the honor band and concert band auditions.

Students will be placed into one of three concert ensembles based upon audition, skill level, musicianship, eligibility, and ability displayed during audition.

OMEA Honor Group (updated 10/23)

We are pleased to announce that the Wind Symphony has been selected as an honor group for the Oklahoma Music Educators State Convention and will perform at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center in mid-January. Regular sectionals will take place in the months of November and January in order to be ready for this performance. Tentative rehearsal times are after school from 4:15-5:30 on Mondays and Tuesdays - Mondays for Brass and Tuesdays for Woodwinds. Usually sectionals are not required for the percussion section, but if sectional time is needed then a schedule will be set as well.

In order to have materials ready for the OMEA program, it will be necessary to take a picture of the Wind Symphony shortly after results have been posted. Students that do not have concert attire yet may need to borrow some from existing band members for this picture. More information will be added as concert season approaches.

All freshman ladies have been measured for Concert attire (also referred to as concert blacks) is required for all students enrolled in concert band. Men use a full tuxedo - jacket, pant, white tux shirt (wing tip collar), black bowtie & cummerbund, black dress shoes with dark socks. Tuxes are to be purchased from Alyssa's Bridal at 6808 S Memorial for complete deal. Price for complete package is approximately $185.99 + tax. Students/Families should take care of this in advance to allow enough time for any alterations or back orders. It will be important to do this before the Thanksgiving Holiday in order to have tux in hand for the holiday concert in December.

All 9th grade girls, new students, and students needing another dress are measured for proper dress size during marching season and then ordered in time for dresses to arrive before the holiday concert in December.
