Solo & Ensemble 2021

Jenks will be hosting a Middle School Solo and Ensemble competition on Saturday, May 1st at Jenks High School.  This competition will be exclusively for Jenks students, however it will still have the same quality judges as we have had with our previous OSSAA competitions.

Students were asked to sign-up in class prior to Spring Break.  If students decide to participate, they can email Mrs. Cryer and she will add those students to the list.  A spreadsheet with participating students will be provided on this page soon.

The cost to enter this competition is $10 per solo and $5 per person on the ensemble.  Students need to have money into the band teachers by Thursday, April 1st.

Solos must be played with a piano accompaniment.

Each 7th and 8th grade class has learned a few solos within our class.  If students are not taking private lessons, they can use one of the solos in class to perform.

If students are taking private lessons, their teacher will select music for them.  They should use a live pianist for this competition.  We recommend two:

  • Jennifer Haugen (JMS 7th Grade Science teacher  jennifer.haugen@jenksps.org)
  • Nancy Massey (retired music teacher from Jenks) 918-277-9550

Students who chose to do an ensemble should obtain music from their private lessons teacher or Mrs. Cryer.

Extra credit will be offered for students who place well.  Students who receive a superior rating will receive 100 extra credit points, and students who receive an excellent rating will receive 50 extra credit points.

We will upload a schedule for the day when we know.
