It's time for basketball season and basketball band. We are looking for a solid group of students to play at selected home games. Marching band instrumentation is used. A decent representation from all sections is necessary to look and sound good. Basketball band is directed by Mr. Jensen & Mr. Silverman and plays the same type of music used in the stands at football games - mainly during time outs and between quarters - to create a positive, supportive environment. Required attire is the Jenks Trojan Pride Travel Shirt or Jenks Trojan Pride Hoodie. 8th Grade Band Members have the option to participate in basketball band. This provides high school band members the opportunity to get to know and mentor future band members. Basketball band is for letter points and may affect your grade. Students should not sign up to participate if they cannot commit to full participation and attendance at games. Students will receive 25 letter points for proper participation in basketball band.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is signing up for Jenks Basketball Band required?
A: No.
Q: I want to be a part of the Basketball Pep Band. Can I pick and choose which events I attend?
A: No. Once you commit to the band with the form, you are expected to attend all 4 of the games.
Unexcused absences will not be tolerated: If you do not show up for a rehearsal or a performance,
you will receive a “0” grade, you will not receive letter points for that event, and you will face
potential removal from the pep band.
Q: What happens if I’m sick or have an emergency preventing me from attending?
A: Refer to the Band Policies signed at the beginning of the school year. All questions for excuses for
missing pep band must be submitted in writing to Mr. Jensen at brandt.jensen@jenksps.org. For
emergencies, such as illness, please email us directly as soon as possible.
Q: When do the games end?
A: The last game usually ends around 10pm. However, students will be instructed to contact their
parents sometime during the 4th quarter so that they are picked up on time. All students must be
picked up within 30 minutes of the end of the 4th quarter.. Failure to do so may result in removal
from the basketball pep band.
