Kenny Martin is a native to the Tulsa area and began teaching at Jenks Public Schools in 2016. Before coming to Jenks, Mr. Martin taught in the Bixby (OK), Moore (OK), and Stillwater (OK) public schools. His responsibilities include teaching beginning percussion at the intermediate levels, assisting all high school concert bands and percussion ensembles, assisting with the Trojan Pride Marching Band and directing the Jenks Indoor Percussion Ensemble.
A 2000 graduate of Broken Arrow Senior High School, Mr. Martin holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Oklahoma State University, where he also completed graduate work and served as a percussion graduate assistant working with the OSU Cowboy Marching Band and percussion ensembles. While earning his degree, Mr. Martin had the opportunity to perform extensively with many ensembles in various venues including with the OSU Marching Percussion Ensemble at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Nashville, TN, and with the OSU Wind Ensemble at the Yamaha All-Japan Band Directors Clinic in Hamamatsu, Japan.
Mr. Martin is a member of Music Educators National Conference, Oklahoma Music Educators Association, North Central Directors Association, and the Percussive Arts Society. He also actively teaches private lessons with many of his students achieving superior ratings at district/state contests, earning membership in honor bands, drum corps, university ensembles, and completing their own music degrees.
