Kyle Smith began teaching in Jenks Public Schools in 2026. His current responsibilities include teaching 8th grade bands at the middle school, assisting with the Trojan Pride Marching Band and assisting high school concert bands.
Mr. Smith began his teaching career in 2012 at Broken Arrow Public Schools after earning his Bachelors of Music Education and Masters of Music in Wind Conducting degrees from Oklahoma State University. During his tenure at Broken Arrow he taught beginning through high school band students, served as Director of Bands at the Broken Arrow Freshman Academy, and worked as lead woodwind specialist with the Pride of Broken Arrow Marching Band. His ensembles consistently earned Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association Sweepstakes Awards for excellence in both concert and marching performance.
As a performer, Mr. Smith was a member of the Oklahoma State University Wind Ensemble, appearing at the College Band Directors National Association national convention in 2009 and the Oklahoma Music Educators Association conventions in 2008 and 2011. He also performed with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2008.
Mr. Smith is a member of the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association and served for more than a decade as Vice President of the Northeast Band Directors Association of Oklahoma. He is also an alumni member of the Alpha Chapters of Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi.
