Once auditions are completed and students have been assigned to a concert band, the normal concert band rehearsal schedule will begin. Students are to be seated in chairs and individually warming up @ 8:25. Roll will be taken at this time. Full group rehearsals will begin at 8:30 and go to the end of 1st hour.
On Monday, November 18th, rehearsal will begin at 9:05am. This will only be for a day or two until concert band auditions results have been posted. Once concert band results have been posted, the normal concert band rehearsal schedule will begin to be utilized. During this period of time, the band will work on the Christmas Parade tune and begin preparing for the Holiday Concert. Students will still need their marching band instrument during this time (if it is different than their concert instrument).
Concert attire is required for all students enrolled in concert band. Men use a full tuxedo - jacket, pant, white tux shirt (wing tip collar), black bowtie & cummerbund, black dress shoes with black socks. Tuxes are to be purchased from Alyssa's Bridal at 6808 S Memorial, (918) 251-1991 for complete deal. Last year, the price for complete package was approximately $289.00 + tax. Alterations were an additional $15.00. Students/Families should take care of this in advance to allow enough time for any alterations or back orders. It is highly recommended to do this before the Grand Nationals in order to have tux in hand for the holiday concert in December.
Ladies use a concert dress ordered through the band parent organization with black shoes. All 9th grade girls, new students, or students needing another dress have already been measured. Dresses will be ordered shortly after this in order for them to arrive in time for the holiday concert in December. Last year, the price was $80.00 and included shipping. Dresses do not come in short sizes, only regular and long. It may be necessary for dresses to be altered. Alterations are the responsibility of the student/family and not the band or band parent organization.
Special orders and/or alterations may be necessary with concert attire. These costs are not included in the estimated price of the attire.
All students will need the Foundations for Superior Performance (commonly referred to as the blue book), a pencil, as well as additional materials defined by each performing group/conductor. Information and deadlines for additional materials will be added after auditions are completed and rehearsals for each band begin.

-------------------------------------
Auditions will take place the same week as NCDA Auditions. This is a busy week as it is the week before Grand Nationals, but considering all the circumstances involved, it is the best time to hold the auditions.
Auditions for concert band are Tuesday, November 5th through Friday, November 8th. The process will be similar to past year's auditions and be similar to what will take place at NCDA/OMEA auditions that weekend. Students should read carefully below and listen to instructions given at school in order to thoroughly understand and be prepared for the concert band audition process.
The material is the same music as honor band (both OMEA and NCDA) audition music and was passed out to all students on the first day of school. For clarification purposes, all music that is not marked out must be prepared for honor band auditions. Music that is marked in brackets is the portion that must be prepared for concert band auditions. Students must also prepare scales for both the honor band and concert band auditions.
Students will be placed into one of three concert ensembles based upon audition, skill level, musicianship, eligibility, conduct in class, and ability displayed during audition. Audition results will be posted as soon as possible with the intention for rehearsals to begin on Monday, November 18th.
It is important to note that Friday, November 8th, is a distance learning day. There are no classes on the High School campus, but auditions for percussion, trombones, euphoniums, and doublers WILL still take place as scheduled.
Auditions are scheduled for Tuesday, November 5th through Friday, November 8th - Auditions will begin after school and run until about 6:00pm each day. Auditions will be done individually via mp3 recorders. Instructions will be given to students on how to operate the recorders and will be included in the audition room to help them through the process. Each audition will consist of one concert scale, the chromatic scale, and bracketed portions of the audition material. There will be no sight reading for this audition. Students that are auditioning on more than one instrument should confirm this with Mr. Hillock before Friday, November 1st. Students auditioning on more than one instrument will do their primary audition on November 5th or 6th and their secondary audition on November 8th. The audition schedule is subject to change - depending on the number of students that audition on more than one instrument.
Auditions are scheduled for Friday, November 8th. Auditions will be done live with directors behind a screen. All percussion students are to be at the band room no later than 4:10 pm to sign up for an audition time, with auditions beginning at 4:30 pm. All percussion students will be sight reading on snare drum for this audition as well.
