On Thursday, March 27th, the Jenks 8th grade band will be sponsoring and serving a meal to Tulsa's homeless with Night Light Tulsa. Night Light Tulsa is an organization that feeds about 300-350 individuals under the bridge at the intersection of Maybelle and Brady in downtown Tusa. They feed a meal every Thursday night throughout the year. Click here to learn more about Night Light Tulsa.
For safety purposes, a parent MUST be present with their children at Night Light Tulsa. Students may not attend if their parent cannot attend.
It costs us $1000 to sponsor a meal. We will be raising money at February 8th's Solo/Ensemble Fundraiser outside of Whole Foods, and we will also be taking donations at our Pre-Contest Concert on Tuesday, March 11th.
Because we are sponsoring the meal, we are guaranteed 22 spots to serve the meal. I have created a Koalendar for STUDENTS only. Parents, you may sign-up your 8th grade band student, but please don't sign yourself up. If there are extra spots available, we will divvy them out to parents that evening. Click HERE to sign-up for the food or drink line for March 27.
There will be other volunteer opportunities that evening as well, however they will also be shared with other volunteers from the community. Night Light will have various stations to pass out clothing, hygiene products, dog food, books, etc. You and your child are welcome to volunteer for those stations during the 6:30 meeting on that night.
Here is the basic itinerary for the evening:
This will be a great evening!
