The 7th grade band will be taking a one-day trip to Frontier City at the end of this school year. The students will be participating in the Heartland Music Festival in Edmond as well as spending the rest of the day at Frontier City.

What is the Heartland Music Festival?

The Heartland Music Festival is a music contest with junior high and high school bands, orchestras, or choirs competing from several states. The contest will take place at a venue near Frontier City.

When is the trip?

The trip will take place on Saturday, May 9th. Please see the schedule below for more information.

What is the cost?

Cost for students is $35. This covers the cost of transportation, festival fees, park entrance and a meal voucher. We were very fortunate to be able to offset the cost of our trip from our Fall Fundraiser proceeds!

The trip can be paid online through InTouch (accessed through PowerSchool) or by cash/check. Checks should be made out to Jenks Band. This should be paid by Thursday, April 30.

Students can bring extra money for snacks. Bringing food into the park is not allowed except for those with food allergies.

Eligibility

In order to attend the event on Saturday, May 9, students must be eligible. Please refer to the band handbook for more information on this policy. Eligibility will be taken early in the morning on May 1st, so you must have your grades passing by Thursday, April 30th.

A few reminders:

  • Frontier City is Cashless. Students are encouraged to bring money for extra food, drinks, gift shops, etc., but cannot pay with cash. There are cash-to-card kiosks throughout the park, but you should expect lines for them to be quite long.

  • Students should be in a group with an Adult at all times. If students would like to ride a ride and the parent or other students would like to wait at the exit, that is absolutely okay. However, any students found away from their group will stay with the Directors for the remainder of the day.

  • Parents who want to come to watch our performance and/or Frontier City should see the Parent Information Handout for information and discounted tickets. Parents are free to come to the performance, or just join us at the park.

  • Students are allowed to check out  at the end of the day with their parents only. If you would like to check your student out, the student and parent must find a Director and check out with them.

  • No water rides. There will not be places to change, and we don’t want to leave our bus seats wet or dirty.

Any issues on this trip will result in punishment. Students are expected to be on their best behavior and represent our school and community with the highest standards.
